- a famous American waterfall on the Niagara River that joins Lake Erie to Lake Ontario on the border between the USA and Canada. It actually consists of two waterfalls (the American Falls and the Horseshoe Falls), separated by Goat Island. They are a very popular tourist attraction, especially with honeymooners (= people who are just married), and are also used to produce electricity. Both the US and Canada have cities called Niagara Falls, and they are joined by Rainbow Bridge.
