- (1923-2012) an English writer and broadcaster on astronomy (= the science of the stars, etc.) He presented every programme in the television series The Sky at Night from when it began in 1957. Moore was regarded with affection in Britain because of his rather strange manner. He spoke very fast, had untidy hair and often wore a monocle.
