Powhatan

- (c. 1550-1618) the Native American leader of the Powhatan people and the Powhatan Confederacy of 30 groups in Virginia and part of Maryland. He was the father of Pocahontas, and after she married an Englishman Powhatan made peace with the Jamestown community.
