Richard Steele /ˌrɪtʃəd ˈstiːl/ /ˌrɪtʃərd ˈstiːl/ - (1672-1729) an Irish writer of plays and essays. He moved to London as a young man, and wrote several comedy plays. They contained more social and moral comments than the popular Restoration comedies, and were not very successful.
