Seamus Heaney

- (1939-2013) a Northern Irish poet who lived in Dublin, Ireland. He won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1995. His work showed his concern both for the traditions of Irish culture and about the Troubles in Northern Ireland. His collections of poetry include North (1975), Field Work (1979), The Haw Lantern (1987), and Seeing Things (1991). He won the Whitbread prize for The Spirit Level (1996) and for his translation of Beowulf (1999).
