Tate Modern
/ˌteɪt ˈmɒdn/
/ˌteɪt ˈmɑːdərn/
- an art gallery on the south bank of the Thames in London that contains a collection of international modern art from 1900 to the present. It has been extremely popular since it opened in 2000, partly because of the building, which used to be a power station (= a place where electricity is produced).
