  1. a series of British laws concerning safety and working conditions in factories. During the Industrial Revolution British factories were dangerous places to work in, and in most of them even young children had to work for long hours. People working for social change fought hard campaigns to force the government to make these laws. The most important Factory Acts were those passed in the first half of the 19th century. They limited the number of hours that children could work, and made it illegal to employ very young children.《工厂法》:一系列有关工厂安全和工作条件的英国法律。在工业革命期间,英国工厂是危险的工作场所,在大多数工厂中,甚至年幼的孩子也不得不长时间工作。为社会变革而努力的人们进行了艰苦的运动,迫使政府制定这些法律。最重要的工厂法是19世纪上半叶通过的法律。他们限制了儿童可以工作的时间,并规定雇用年幼的孩子为非法。
