the Fifteen /ðə ˌfɪfˈtiːn/ /ðə ˌfɪfˈtiːn/ (also the ‘15 Rebellion) - an attempt in 1715 by the Jacobite supporters of James Stuart to defeat the forces of the House of Hanover and make James king. By the time James arrived from France, the Jacobites had lost two important battles.
