/ðə ˌfɔːtiːn ˈpɔɪnts/
/ðə ˌfɔːrtiːn ˈpɔɪnts/
- the 14 aims of the US at the end of the First World War, as presented by President Woodrow Wilson to Congress on 8 January 1918. They included a reduction in military weapons, freedom of the seas, free international trade and several land agreements, such as establishing an independent Poland. The Fourteen Points were used in preparing the Treaty of Versailles. The League of Nations was based on the last of them, which called for a general 'association of nations'.
