- the part of the Seven Years War that was fought in America (1754-63). After a series of battles, the British forces defeated the French and Indians (Native Americans), and the Treaty of Paris (1763) gave Britain all of Canada and much of the Louisiana region, which reached nearly to Canada. George Washington was one of the British military leaders, and this war gave Americans the experience they needed to fight the American Revolution.
