- (in British legend) the men of high rank who served King Arthur. They are often shown in pictures wearing heavy armour (= metal covering to protect the body) and riding horses. They sat at a round table so that none of them would appear to have a higher rank than the others. The best-known Knights include Sir Galahad, Sir Gawain and Sir Lancelot.
