- the group of people who form part of the local government of London, elected by the people of London every four years, at the same time as the Mayor of London. The London Assembly is made up of 25 members. 14 of them are directly elected to represent constituencies and 11 are elected to represent all of London, using a form of proportional representation. They examine the Mayor of London's activities and policies, and question him about his decisions. They are also able to investigate other issues of importance to the people of London, and make proposals to the Mayor.
