- the military school that trains officers for the US Army. It is at West Point, New York, and was established by Congress in 1802. Students are called cadets. Famous US generals who were trained there include Robert E Lee, Ulysses S Grant, John Pershing, Dwight D Eisenhower, George Patton, Douglas MacArthur and Norman Schwarzkopf.
