CultureWhisky made in Scotland, often called ' Scotch', is made mostly from barley and is usually sold as a blend (= mixture) of several types. A more expensive type of Scotch whisky is 'single malt', made in the Highlands from a single type of grain. Many people drink whisky mixed with water, soda water or soft drinks (= drinks containing no alcohol) such as ginger ale or cola, while others prefer to drink it with nothing added, or with ice (called on the rocks).
