William Jennings Bryan

- (1860-1925) a US politician known for his great skill as a public speaker. His famous 'Cross of Gold' speech in 1896 supported the idea that US coins should be made of silver. Bryan was very religious and at the Scopes trial he spoke against the teaching of evolution. He was the US Secretary of State from 1913 to 1915.
