Detroit /dɪˈtrɔɪt/ /dɪˈtrɔɪt/ - the largest city in the US state of Michigan. It began in 1701 as a French trading post. It is on the Detroit River and connected by a bridge to Windsor, Canada. Detroit is the centre of the US car industry and often has many unemployed workers because of the increase in imports of foreign cars.
