- a magazine for men aged between about 20 and 40, published every month. It contains articles on topics such as sport, fashion, the arts and business, and also pictures of attractive women. It has published work by writers such as Ernest Hemingway, F Scott Fitzgerald, Tom Wolfe and Norman Mailer. It began in the US in 1933 and one of its best-known features was the series of drawings of women done by Alberto Vargas (1896-1983), called the Vargas Girls. It has been published in Britain since 1991.
