Fritz Lang

- (1890-1976) an Austrian film director who directed many Hollywood films between 1936 and 1956. He began his film career in Germany, where he directed silent films, including Metropolis (1927) and M (1933). In America, he became known for his films about violence, including Fury (1936), Hangmen Also Die (1943) and The Big Heat (1953). After returning briefly to Germany, Lang finally settled in Beverly Hills.
