- an independent organization started by the British government in 1975 to work for the public who pay for goods and services. It aims to improve companies and products which are not satisfactory, but in a general way. It does not deal with people's individual problems. In 2008, it changed its name to Consumer Focus, and later to Consumer Futures. In 2014 it became part of Citizens Advice.
