Warner Brothers

- a major film company established in 1923 by four brothers, Harry Warner (1881-1958), Albert Warner (1884-1967), Sam Warner (1888-1927) and Jack Warner (1892-1978). It produced the first sound film, The Jazz Singer, in 1927. Other Warner Brothers films have included Casablanca, Yankee Doodle Dandy, My Fair Lady, The Exorcist (1973), Superman, Driving Miss Daisy (1989), Batman, Unforgiven (1992), The Fugitive, Fallen (1998), and the Harry Potter films. The company also made the television series ER and Friends. Warner Brothers Records produces music by such singers as Jason Derulo and Dua Lipa. Warner Brothers combined with Time Inc in 1989 to form Time Warner.
